Mildred Biermann, 93, of Tripoli, died Monday, December 21, 2015, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 24, 2015,at St. John’s United Church of Christ-Siegel of rural Waverly with Rev. Eugene Walther officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated to a charity of their choice at a later date.
Mildred, daughter of Fred and Sophie (Bruns) Bock was born February 3, 1922, in rural Sumner, Iowa. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church-Spring Fountain, rural Sumner, on February 12, 1922, and confirmed at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli on March 25, 1935. Mildred received her education in the rural schools. On August 11, 1940, she was united in marriage with Lawrence Biermann at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli. The couple farmed in Douglas Township until retiring in 1976. She also worked at Allen Memorial Hospital. Mildred was a long time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ-Siegel. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting, playing cards, and her daily walks.
Mildred is survived by her two children, Jerry (Carolyn) Biermann of Elgin, and Sharon (Ronald) Peters of Tripoli; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lawrence who died March 25, 2003, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.
